As we prepare for a significant transition with the retirement of our Head of School, Walter Sorensen, at the end of the 2024-2025 school year, we embark on a mission to find a visionary leader who will continue to nurture and enhance our school's mission of inspiring students to reach their highest levels of personal and academic achievement.

To ensure a successful search, Alcuin School has partnered with Carney, Sandoe & Associates, renowned for their expertise in educational recruitment. Leading our search are principal consultants Rhonda Durham and Mark Davis, who bring extensive experience in head of school searches across independent schools.

Timeline and Process

  • 1) Community Engagement and Needs Assessment

    Engage with Alcuin’s community to understand the unique needs and culture, guiding the search criteria.

  • 2) Position Description Development

    Development of a detailed position description that encapsulates the school's history, mission, current needs, and the qualities desired in the next head of school.

  • 3) Candidate Review and Interviews

    Screening and preliminary interviews to shortlist potential candidates.

  • 4) Finalist Selection and School Visits

    Finalists visit Alcuin School for in-depth interviews and engagement with the school community.

  • 5) Selection and Approval

    The Search Committee makes a final recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
