Montessori Primary Care Program offers care for Alcuin School Primary students before and after school. The emphasis of the program is to generate a sense of family and community and to deal with the practical daily needs of children of this age: outside play, the noon meal, nap, and free choice of work or play. This busy but predictable schedule provides a sense of security so important to this age group.
In order to keep our children safe, we have adjusted our after-care program as it contained children from all 8 classrooms which would make the single cohort impossible to maintain. To solve that problem, 5 of our Primary classrooms will be “all-day” classrooms. This allows our children whose parents work outside the home to have a consistent cohort all day, every day.
The afternoon routine at MPC involves lunch, naps for the younger group and resting time for the older group, outside play, snack between 3:30-4:00 and lots of fun. Every day we have music and movement and story time . Children do science experiments, exploration of nature, art projects, have access to many art mediums, sewing and weaving projects and many games.
The different options are: 11:00-3:30, 11:00-6:00 or 3:00-6:00
