The World is our Classroom.

What does it mean to be a compassionate global citizen? A key factor in developing global competency is Alcuin’s travel program. Through local, national, and international travel, students experience a direct through-line that connects classroom learning with the wider world. The travel program enables students to view information and ideas through the lens of global and cultural impact, which leads to solution-based, higher-order thinking. Students complete their studies uniquely prepared to thrive in a diverse and interconnected and everchanging world.

Below is an example of the school’s annual travel program, the cost of which is included in tuition:

3rd Grade

Overnight campout (one day, local destination)
4th – 6th Grades

Upper Elementary campout (two days, in-state destination)
6th Grade

Texas history (five days, Austin and San Antonio)
7th Grade

Hiking, rafting, camping (seven days, Big Bend and west Texas)
8th Grade

U.S. history (seven days, Virginia and Washington, D.C.)
9th-12th Grades

International immersions include seven-day trips to locations such as Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Portugal/Spain, Germany/Czech Republic, Iceland, London, British Virgin Islands, British Columbia, and Canada.

Supplemental Trips

Supplemental trips are also available and are focused on specialty and service experiences. Examples of these trips include a five-day service opportunity with an indigenous community in Peru, participation in the annual IB Film Competition in Paris, and a seven-day robotics immersion in Japan. The cost of these supplemental trips is not covered by tuition.
