Affording an Alcuin School Education

WE SUPPORT FAMILIES WHO NEED ASSISTANCE. We base financial aid decisions solely on a family’s demonstrated need. At the Upper School level, merit scholarships are also available. Our aid comes in the form of tuition grants: money applied toward tuition for the upcoming school year that does not need to be repaid. In our most recent school year, we had over $2.4 million available for financial aid and tuition remission which represents 8.5% of the school budget. Financial aid is available to students who attend a full day in the primary classroom through Upper School...

WE DON’T CONSIDER FINANCIAL NEED IN THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS. Our admission process is need-blind, meaning our admission committee does not play a role in financial aid decisions.

IN ORDER TO ASSIST FAMILIES IN FULL SCHOOL PARTICIPATION, we provide supplemental support on a case-by-case basis to qualifying families to cover costs above our tuition, such as after-school care or extracurricular activities, enabling children to participate in all aspects of school life. Support varies based on several factors such as the grade of the child and level of financial aid for which the family qualifies.

WE FOLLOW BEST PRACTICES. Our financial aid program is well established, fairly administered, clearly communicated, and consistently applied in accordance with the principles and practices of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the core values of the Alcuin community.

Tuition for each Academic Year includes:

  • School provides laptop (5th through 12th grade)
  • Textbooks as needed
  • Annual school travel (both national and international)

Qualifying families may also request discounted rates for after-school care, athletics gear, and optional after-school activities.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

  1. Check the box on your child’s admission application indicating your interest in applying for aid. Note: Only students aged 5 years or older are eligible for financial aid.

  2. Submit required documents as listed in the Clarity Financial Aid application.

  3. Admission and financial aid awards will be released the Friday before Spring Break. If admitted, your enrollment contract will also show the financial award. Your deadline to accept both the contract and award is 10 business days after receipt of the contract unless otherwise noted.

Note: All parents and/or guardians, including those who have never married or are divorced or separated, as well as stepparents, must submit all required financial aid application documents for their child to be considered for financial assistance.

Payment Options

Each year, financial aid families can select from two different payment plans.

Option 1: Payment in full due by June 1
Option 2: Tuition payment in 10 monthly installments, including program and mandatory tuition refund insurance from June 1 through February 1

The Tuition Refund Insurance is required for all financial aid recipients.

What is the Tuition Refund Program?
The Tuition Refund Program is designed to minimize the financial impact on a family when a student is forced to withdraw for medical, personal or academic reasons. When a student enrolls at Alcuin School, the family is obligated to pay tuition and fees for the full school year, even when unforeseen circumstances prevent the student from completing the academic year.

Alcuin School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, national origin, ethnicity or other applicable protected classification in the administration of its admission and education policies, financial assistance programs, athletic programs and other administered activities.
