The Primary Program consists of classroom communities of children aged 3- to 6-years-old. It is designed to recognize each child's natural love of order, independent work, concentration, and self-discipline. These characteristics require a carefully prepared environment and highly trained teachers who guide the children through exploration and learning. Assistants in each classroom help to ensure guidance through learning activities.

The Primary classroom provides experienced-based activities in practical life, language development, sensorial exploration, mathematics, science, geography, physical education, art, and music. Because this is an especially sensitive period for language acquisition, Alcuin School’s Spanish language program starts in the Primary classroom.

Each classroom has an extended outdoor environment where the students can learn about and explore nature.

Primary Curriculum

The Montessori Primary Curriculum equips students with a strong academic foundation while preparing them for continued success as independent, curious learners. The Alcuin School program is aligned to meet and exceed Texas state standards. By its nature, the Montessori Method allows students to engage with abstract concepts from an early age through the manipulation of concrete materials.
