Richard Lines

When not in the classroom, Lines enjoys hiking, rock climbing, reading, cycling, and speed skating.
Richard Lines joined Alcuin in 2023 as the the MYP and DP Physics teacher, as well as the instructor for DP Sports Exercise and Health Science (SEHS). Prior to joining the Alcuin faculty, Lines taught in the Garland Independent School District for 31 years, teaching IB Physics since 1995 and SEHS since 2019. 
  
Lines is the son of a U.S. Naval officer and grew up on naval bases on both coasts of the U.S., Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Guam. He was a competitive swimmer and gymnast and went on to coach gymnastics for 23 years.  When not in the classroom, Lines enjoys hiking, rock climbing, reading, cycling, and speed skating. He is a nationally recognized inline speed skater named to the 2024 Masters National team and is the 2021 and 2023 age division national champion. 
  
Lines has two adult daughters: one majoring in dance and one graduate with a degree in music, currently working on a career as a musician.
