Speaker Series

The Speaker Series is held on Fridays for Middle School and Upper School students of Alcuin School. When appropriate, younger students are invited as well. The exceptions are noted below:

September 23, 2016: Dr. Edward Goodman, Epidemiologist with Texas Health Presbyterian will speak about infectious diseases and the Ebola outbreak in Dallas.
November 11, 2016: David Campisi, Alcuin parent and local successful restaurateur, will be bringing one of his employees, Austin Underwood, who also owns his own restaurant, Austin’s Underdawgs. December 2, 2016: Doug Wright, librettist, screenwriter, and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, will be speaking to the students about his experience writing for the stage and screen.
 
January 18, 2017: Marc Dunlop and Shaun Profitt, social entrepreneurs, will be speaking to the students about their sugar cane plantation and fertilizer business in South Africa. Mr. Dunlop and Mr. Profitt will also educate the students on the development arm of the business that assists poor families in cultivating their own farm land.
 
February 3, 2017: Dr. Jonathan Licker, Senior Manager R&D, Snack Seasonings and Flavors at Frito-Lay PepsiCo and Ambassador for the Institute of Food Technologists, will be coming to campus to speak about Food Science.
 
February 24, 2017:  Rob Kaplan, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, will be coming to campus to speak to our Upper School students to help them understand more about the financial world and investing for their Investment Club.
April 5, 2017:  Stan Moore, Patent and Trademark Lawyer with Winstead, PC, spoke to the students about Patent and Trademark Law, his educational background, and his personal experience with his own patents.
